Monday

Solid writing day today. I’m on the final draft of Alone in the Dark (Dark of Night 6), which I started during the first lockdown before losing my writing mojo for months! It’s fun because it’s a fresh, standalone mystery, but at the same time I’m getting to check in on Cara and Amy and Ruari — feels a bit like a get together for old friends! Another week or so of tweaking and polishing and it’ll be in good shape for release at the end of the month.

Tuesday

Spoke too soon!! Always the way. You’d think after writing full time for the best part of a decade I would learn that every solid writing day is followed by one where I’m away with the fairies! To be fair, I was a bit distracted by casting the workshop reading of one of my scripts next week, but even so. I had planned to bash through at least another chapter and… I did not.

Wednesday

Felt like a day of possibilities today. Confirmed some AMAZING actors for next week’s reading, and even had a chat with one of them (who also produces) about some ideas for taking the project forward. Also had a lovely catch up with a writer friend in which we brainstormed an idea for an event for female creatives in Scotland… excited!

Thursday

Managed to bash through a couple of chapters today… but EVERYTHING paled in comparison to my first aerial hoop class! I’m forever on the hunt for fun activities that will force me to get exercise without noticing (because if I notice I’m exercising I will immediately want to lie down in a darkened room), and generally opportunities to be upside down, so aerial hoop is made for me! Even though I’ve been feeling pretty unfit lately, I managed to do everything in the class (even with what the teacher called woohoo energy 🤣) and eft the studio absolutely as high as a kite!!

Friday

Other than waking up stiff as a board and black and blue from aerial, today was another pleasantly productive day. Started the final proofread on Alone in the Dark, came up with a new project I am really excited about ( well, it’s more a new way of doing an old project… but VERY exciting!), and confirmed the rest of my cast for next week. Caught up with a friend in Stockholm in the afternoon then had another friend over in the evening so all in all, a gorgeous ending to a lovely week.
